Google Chrome is the most used web browser. Most of the developers like chrome debugging process. It is more secure and fast. As a system administrator, every developer raised a ticket to install the chrome on their system.

In this article, will help you to install a stable version of google chrome on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04. Same commands are applied on both the Ubuntu versions.

1. Download Deb Package

Open the terminal and run the following command.

$ wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
install google chrome on Ubuntu
install google chrome on Ubuntu

After running this command, the latest stable version will be downloaded. Just install the downloaded deb package on the Ubuntu system.

2. Install Package

Remember, sudo privileged are required to install the deb package on the system. Run the below-mentioned command.

$ sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

Finally, web browser chrome is ready to launch. Just type chrome and hit enter on search bar. As shown in the following snapshot.

3. How to Update Google Chrome

To update chrome, just again type the following command and it would be updated to the available latest version. If already have the newest version then it will show like in the below image.

$ sudo apt-get install google-chrome-stable
